Tropical Storm Dorian moves towards Eastern Caribbean

Tropical Storm Dorian is moving over and away from Puerto Rico, The British and US Virgin Islands.  Tortola Airport has been closed today and scheduled to reopen after inspection.

interCaribbean plans to resume its schedule to and from Tortola on August 29th.

We continue to monitor the movement of Tropical Storm Dorian expected to reach land this evening bring heavy rainfall.   We will monitor the progress and update any changes  to the flight schedule that may be required.  Potential impact could be on flights and connections to and from Antigua and San Juan.  Flights to Dominica and St Lucia on Aug 27th will be assessed once the storm has past and any assessment of any damages to the airport infrastructure.  This page on August 27th 2019.

TS Dorian continues on its track heading towards Barbados, with several surrounding countries issuing a Tropical Storm warning.  Sustained winds have increased to 50 mph.  Reaching landfall on Monday, we expect possible interuption of the St Lucia flight from Tortola via Dominica.

Reports indicate TS Dorian continues on its track, with a slightly more organized storm traveling at a reported 14 mph.  No further information is available at this time.  It is expected to bring 2-4 inches of rain as it comes on land.

interCaribbean Airways wishes to advise the traveling public of the potential for flight interruptions as it moves its way into the Eastern Caribbean.

Presently the storm is approx. 465 miles east of Barbados with sustained winds of 40 mph / 60 Km/H on a trajectory towards Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic / Haiti.  Barbados and St Lucia have issued tropical storm warnings.

interCaribbean will be monitoring the path of the storm over the coming days to determine if there is a need to adjust or cancel any flights in the path of the storm.
